Thanks for the exceedingly good, informative and on-the-mark article forward self-publishing. I just self-published my volume in May 2002 and can speak with a bit of experience. In fact, if I'd read your article back in 2001 when I decided to self-publish, I'd probably have decided not to! The time, coin and effort involved was more than I anticipated.
